Wisdom is like a tree of life for those who embrace it; By wisdom the lord laid the foundation of the earth, (Proverbs 3:18-3:19, KJV).
Trees are invaluable to our environment and essential to all life. They provide water, shade and the air we breathe, offering us fruit, food, and shelter. They are necessary to our surroundings and we depend on them for our health and wellbeing – and by observing them closely, they can also be a source of infinite wisdom.
Wisdom is the quality of having experience, knowledge and good judgement. When you are wise you are said to use your intelligence. You develop understanding, insight and perception. When you have wisdom you are able to comprehend and apply knowledge in the correct way.
If by wisdom the lord created the earth, then wisdom is the force behind all things – and fundamental to existence. If wisdom is like a tree, then every tree embodies wisdom, and as both are sources of life, they remind us of how much we can learn and grow.
A tree has the ability to just be, to simply exist, in harmony with its environment. It lives patiently whilst being exposed to many elements, flourishing over time, regardless of everything going against it. This careful observation can teach us a lot about our own life, and how to apply similar principles in order to succeed.
Like us, trees come in diverse forms, each with unique characteristics, contributing to a rich and biodiverse habitat. And just as every tree bears its fruit, you too are unique, with your own set of skills and talents.
Like most complex organisms, trees are born. They grow, breathe and reproduce if the correct conditions and circumstances permit – Similarly, you should allow yourself the correct environment to grow and transform.
Trees can be distinguished from other plants by their thick exterior known as wood. They are often strong on the outside, protecting their processes on the inside. As they grow, their trunks give rise to branches that extend upwards. Their roots provide a sturdy foundation, anchoring it, storing water and nutrients which enable it to flourish.
Their branches support leaves, which, through photosynthesis, produce oxygen. This process enable us to breath by removing carbon dioxide and purifying the air – you too must operate in similar ways – by changing your surroundings and ridding negativity for the best chance of success. You must strengthen your roots and nourish your spirit in order to thrive.
The wisdom from above is pure, peaceful, gentle, willing to listen, full of mercy and good deeds, fair and genuine, (James 3:17, KJV).
You too must be pure, peaceful and considerate, fair and sincere in every way by planting and rooting yourself in knowledge and feeding your spirit the correct things.
Like the leaves on a tree, your soul needs to expand and grow to give light to your talents. So, nurture yourself spiritually by building wisdom. Present your gifts to the world in the right way, by using them to help others. By operating from a place of truth and positivity, you can help improve and inspire other people – you can use your unique gifts for healing.
Every tree in the world has flowers and it needs them to bear seeds and fruit. The flowers are pollinated by bees, insects and wind. Sometimes their bloom is small and buried so deep that no-one can find it. You too, have the power of creation inside you and operate in a similar way. That’s how you evolve and grow. When you live in genuine alignment, what is hidden inside you multiplies, exposing the gifts you are meant to share with the world – but like bees and insects, at times, you may have to rely on help from others.
A tree’s branches are many, not one. They may wither and break in harsh conditions. They may be cut down, beaten or destroyed – yet a tree has the power to protect itself – enduring even the toughest environment.
A tree can adapt and change throughout the seasons. It can be rebuilt and transformed in the most beautiful of ways. It loses its leaves in the autumn and looks barren in the winter. But the wind serves to strengthen its branches, heavy rain nourishes its roots, the harshest elements can make it tougher, making it emerge bigger and better than before.
Your life, too, will bring many seasons, and like a tree, you must learn to weather them all. By navigating the ebbs and flows with wisdom, your soul will evolve and strengthen.
Like a tree you can endure many cycles. Such as autumn you may suffer a loss, the winter may bring you a struggle, but the process will teach you survival. In experience you will learn and grow. The tough times will make you resilient and the setbacks stronger and wiser.
You may lose yourself in the darkness but eventually emerge in the light. Before you know it spring will appear, and your branches will flower and bloom – summer will arrive and you will rise higher and brighter than before.
We should receive God’s words, listen carefully to wisdom and focus our hearts on understanding, (Proverbs 2:1-2:2, KJV).
We all have many facets and are not one thing but many. You are more than you believe yourself to be, and have the ability to adapt, change and create what you want in your life. By protecting and following your purpose, by surrounding yourself with those who inspire you, you can transform and produce your own seeds of greatness.
As a spiritual being you need to guard your soul and live in alignment. Listen to your inner voice and grow in wisdom. Strengthen yourself from within, build boundaries if you need to, and become the best version of yourself you can be.
Strength means perseverance, tenacity and inner fortitude. By enduring each season you allow your spirit to grow. You gain wisdom, knowledge and power when faced by difficult situations. Building strength allows you to overcome your fears. It makes you more resilient to adversity. Through inner strength you develop toughness of spirit and firmness of purpose.
The tree of life bears 12 kinds of fruit, and its leaves are for the healing of nations, (Revelation 22:2, KJV).
A tree is a source of life, and you can achieve the same in wisdom. You are gods gift and unique blessing. Like a tree you can be a source of nourishment to others.
Wisdom is like a tree that gives life to those who choose to hold on to it, and those who keep it close are truly blessed. Don’t turn your back on wisdom because it will protect you. If you love wisdom, it will keep you safe. Those who seek it invest in their own wellbeing, and those who value understanding will find success.
How do you apply wisdom in your own life? Do you feed your own roots? How can you strengthen and nurture your own branches?
