FAITH

Have You Lost Your Faith?

The definition of faith is to have complete trust in someone or something. To believe and have firm conviction that something is so, without proof.

For many years I lost my faith. I forgot what it was like to love and trust God. I know he was rooted inside me, but I didn’t trust.

Then I found him.

I looked in my heart and knew he was real. In the search for truth, the origins of the universe and my own being, I looked profusely to get the answer. I looked to science, I looked to religion, I looked to the secret books.

What astounded me most was that of the millions of years on this planet, we still do not have conclusive answers. Of the thousands of years we’ve inhabited the earth, we still haven’t solved life’s greatest mysteries.

We can develop theories rooted in our human perceptions, but the unavoidable reality is that they are often unreliable.

Even our most advanced scientific principles such as quantum mechanics, which we look to for certainty, are profusely grounded in uncertainty.

Oftentimes we look to Science to find the answers we seek, remaining satisfied by what we read at a surface level, as a means to confirm the answer to our own existence.

Other times, if we feel it’s beyond our own understanding, we don’t delve any further. Particularly when someone talks about quantum mechanics or E=mc2.

We depend on scientific principles and trust they must be so. We put our faith and belief in the experts. We rely on the greatest minds of today and throughout history to come up with the answers for us instead.

The reality is that in search of truth, you will inevitably discover that those great minds were also aware of their own limitations. Even they, acknowledged how little we actually know, if anything at all.

You might then argue that our current scientific principles are relatively primitive. Scientific understanding is always advancing, so what we see as sophisticated today might be viewed as basic in the future as new discoveries and technologies arise.

Based on this knowledge alone, can we then stand to ask ourselves if there is something we are missing? Is the answer outside of our conscious perception? Or is it simply a matter of developing faith? Should we in fact be looking in a different direction?

If you simply look to the external you may never find the answers you are seeking. If you are in search of the ultimate truth, you should never rely on one belief alone. So what must you do instead? To find the truth of who you are?

In your journey of faith, to find the answer you seek, look within, not without. Examine all possibilities. Having faith entails introspecting as a way to explain what you don’t understand. Having faith means believing in something greater than yourself. That’s what I discovered.

You were created in the image of God. And in order to find the creator, the source of all that is, you need merely look inside. Look within your heart. And he is there, deep within your own.

In my search for truth I realised that everything I need I already possess. That everything is perfect even in our imperfection. I learnt that the answer I was so desperately looking for had always been there residing inside me. The gifts I’d hoped for were hidden within.

I came to realise that when knowledge is lacking, you must learn to rely on faith – and faith alone. Faith speaks the language of the heart. Faith is the most important factor.

The word of faith says “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” With faith we are able to find meaning, with faith we believe in ourselves, with faith we create our reality. And with faith we find and appreciate our blessings.

Without faith we are at a loose end. Having faith entails believing in something greater. Faith knows that no matter what is happening in our lives, God, the Universe, a higher power is working on it.

Faith knows that to find the creator you need to live in truth. So, connect to your heart to find the essence of who you truly are.
